Altermodern: Tate Triennial

Though panned by reviews here in London, according to my pal, Nicholas Bourriaud's massive undertaking illustrates the need to reinvent the state of young artists now. Standouts for me included: Peter Coffin's brilliant layered commentary and psychedelic journey through a selection from Tate's permanent collection; Mike Nelson's recreation of his studio with detritus and dry video presentation on symbology; and Loris Greard's brilliant room of brain wave vibration. I found the show layout a virtual maze of disorder and Bourriaud's stance predictable in choice but still provocation for the brain. A pleasant surprise!
