The Art of Letting Go

One of THE disadvantages-cum-priviledges of residencies abroad is that you can't take it with you. My plans to do a performance throwing the giant nest into the fjord and watching it float out to sea dissolved with busy friends and the lack of a tractor or the time. Monica from LKV adopted the nest for her garden, so it got a good home. I felt seriously emotional watching the nest drive away. The next order of business was packing the Anointers for the show in Oslo, which all got labeled with friends' names who will inherit the pieces when the show comes down. A new very non New York feeling to work quite hard on some projects and give them all away, watching your art travel out into the world. Very very rewarding feeling that quite opposes all the values that the Art Market has made us think we agree with under the wool of the frenzy. My advice= Fight It!
